DPD relies on reusable shipping packaging from hey circle

DPD

DPD Germany, the country's second largest parcel carrier, is now relying on the innovative reusable shipping packaging from hey circle to replace single-use cardboard boxes in parcel shipping.

Every year DPD ships more than 350 million parcels and has now decided to make a decisive contribution to reducing single-use packaging and CO₂ emissions. From now on, DPD business customers benefit from the reusable shipping boxes and bags from hey circle. This packaging not only offers a reusable, sturdy alternative to conventional shipping materials, it also allows companies to save significant costs by using the packaging many times over.

Our partnership with hey circle is another important step on the way to more sustainable parcel shipping. We want to offer our customers innovative, environmentally friendly solutions that integrate seamlessly into their existing shipping processes. The reusable shipping bags from hey circle are a perfect addition to our portfolio.”

The reusable boxes and bags from hey circle can be used for up to 50 cycles between companies and their customers as well as for internal shipping. This not only reduces waste considerably, it also minimises the packaging effort. Retailers with high return rates in particular benefit from the long life of the packaging, which makes frequent reordering of single-use materials unnecessary.

The collaboration between DPD and hey circle began with a trial last year, in which 200 XL boxes travelled back and forth between the production site of the clothing manufacturer Trigema and its shops. The result: less waste, lower costs and seamless integration into existing logistics processes.

As part of the partnership, DPD acts as the link between hey circle and its business customers and so makes it easy to integrate the reusable packaging into existing logistics systems.

“Our vision at hey circle is clear: we want to make parcel shipping work without single-use cardboard boxes. The partnership with DPD is a significant step towards reaching that goal. We look forward to winning flagship customers together with DPD and establishing reusable shipping further in the logistics industry,” explains Doris Diebold, founder of hey circle.

How does reusable shipping with hey circle work?

Companies can use the reusable boxes and bags from hey circle for shipping without paying a deposit. A return label is enclosed, and the packaging can be sent back either empty and folded flat or filled with goods. The return is completely straightforward, directly via the DPD driver or at one of the drop-off points. Back at the warehouse, the packaging is checked, cleaned and prepared for its next journey.

Because it is so easy to handle, reusable shipping not only replaces single-use cardboard boxes, it is also efficient and cost-saving.

The partnership between DPD and hey circle paves the way for logistics with fewer single-use cardboard boxes. Together with DPD, hey circle is making a statement for reuse in parcel shipping - and invites companies to take this important step with them.
