Reusable shipping boxes for PV spare parts and maintenance

PV maintenance

When a PV system faults, it needs to be back up fast: inverters and electronic spare parts go out at short notice to the technician on site, the faulty part comes back.

With reusable shipping boxes from hey circle this spare parts service becomes a predictable loop - fast shipping for the parcel-friendly electronic components, without piles of cardboard on every job.

94 % less packaging waste
76 % fewer CO2 emissions
53 % lower packaging costs
50 cycles per packaging on average

How the loop works

Your central warehouse or partner operation picks the spare part - usually an inverter or an electronic component - and ships it in the hey circle box to the technician on site. The faulty part goes back in the same box for repair or disposal. A box lasts around 50 cycles on average.

Because the spare part flow mainly runs in one direction, the box often comes back empty. The loop then pays off through bundled empty returns: collect boxes folded flat and send them back together, which keeps parcel postage low.

  • Pack & close

    • Place the inverter or electronic spare part shock-protected inside the hey circle box
    • Close the box with the zip or the lift-off lid - no tape at all
    • Security seal for high-value electronic components
  • Ship

    • Stick the shipping label onto the label holder and send it to the technician on site with your usual parcel carrier
    • Tested and approved by all parcel carriers, shipped without surcharge - a good fit for fast, often same-day delivery
    • Dimensionally stable boxes with padding protect shock-sensitive electronics - tested with up to 400 kg stacking pressure and in a drop test from 80 cm
  • Send back

    • The faulty part goes back in the same box for repair or disposal
    • If the box comes back empty: collect them folded flat and send them back in bulk, which keeps parcel postage low
    • Fold the box flat or refill it right away - no packaging waste
  • What is parcel-friendly

PV modules themselves are too large, too heavy and too fragile for standard parcel shipping - reusable boxes are not intended for that. Small to medium-sized inverters and electronic spare parts, on the other hand, are well suited to parcel shipping, and that is exactly what this solution targets.

  • Minimise downtime

When there is a fault, speed counts. Robust, dimensionally stable boxes run through the normal parcel sorting process without surcharge - a good fit for fast, often same-day delivery to the job site.

  • Protection for the electronics

Inverters and control electronics are shock-sensitive. Dimensionally stable boxes with padding protect better than yet another cardboard box - tested with up to 400 kg stacking pressure and in a drop test from 80 cm.

  • Costs across the total volume

Each system only needs maintenance 1 to 2 times a year - so reuse becomes economical through the total volume of all the systems you look after. Across the entire technician fleet you can cut packaging costs by 53 % on average.

  • Regulation

With the PPWR, reuse becomes a requirement - the obligations apply from 12 August 2026. Whoever builds the loop now is prepared.

Matching packaging

An exchange loop in the parcel-friendly range instead of a named reference

There is currently no publicly named hey circle reference for PV maintenance. The use case is a clear exchange loop in the parcel-friendly range, though: spare part out, faulty part back. Providers with their own technician workforce can control the loop directly; with partner or franchise networks it is worth looking at exactly where the packaging logistics sit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I ship PV modules with hey circle as well?

No - PV modules are too large, too heavy and too fragile for standard parcel shipping. The reusable boxes are designed for small to medium-sized inverters and electronic spare parts that fit parcel dimensions.

How does the box come back?

Usually filled with the faulty part for repair or disposal - or folded flat and empty, collected and returned in bundles. That keeps parcel postage low.

Are the boxes suitable for fast shipping when a fault occurs?

Yes - they are tested and approved by all parcel carriers, run through the normal sorting process and carry no surcharge, including for short-notice delivery.

Is it worth it with only one or two service visits per system per year?

Yes - but across the total volume of all the systems you service, not the individual system. Across the entire technician fleet this adds up to a predictable shipping flow.

How long does a hey circle shipping box or bag last?

Our reusable hey circle shipping packaging lasts an average of 50 cycles, so one reusable packaging replaces 50 single-use packages. The service life varies by product type and is stated in the respective product information.

We continuously test this service life with ping-pong shipping through various parcel carriers.

We keep developing our products further to increase their service life.
