Reusable Shipping Boxes for Hearing Care & Hearing Protection

Hearing care & hearing protection

The ear impression goes to the lab, the finished ear mould comes back: in hearing care, custom work travels back and forth every day.

With reusable packaging from hey circle this turns into a closed loop: 94 % less packaging waste than a single-use cardboard box (Box L over 50 cycles, Ökopol life cycle assessment 2023) and better protection for impressions and ear moulds.

94 % less packaging waste
76 % less CO2
53 % lower packaging costs
50 cycles per packaging on average

Box L compared with a single-use cardboard box of the same size containing 80 % recycled material, calculated over 50 cycles. Data source: Ökopol life cycle assessment. The 53 % are an average from real customer calculations.

How the loop works

You send the ear impression to production in the hey circle packaging. The finished ear mould - custom earpiece or custom hearing protection - comes back in the same packaging. And the loop starts over.

If empty packaging piles up, it can be sent back bundled at low cost.

  • Pack & close

    • Place the ear impression and the job paperwork inside the box
    • Close the packaging with the all-round zip for tamper-evident protection - no tape needed
    • Optionally secure the shipment with a security seal
  • Ship

    • Stick the shipping label onto the label holder
    • Hand the parcel over to your carrier as usual
    • hey circle is carried without issue by all major parcel carriers
  • Return

    • The box can be used for new shipments as soon as it arrives
    • Insert the finished ear mould, peel off the old label without residue, stick on the new one
    • Store empty packaging folded flat to save space
  • High frequency

Your shipping runs daily between the same partners - that is exactly what a reusable loop is built for. The more often the box travels back and forth, the bigger your advantage over single-use.

  • Save three times over

According to the Ökopol life cycle assessment (2023), the hey circle Box L saves 94 % packaging waste and 76 % CO2 over 50 cycles compared with a single-use cardboard box of the same size containing 80 % recycled material. Packaging costs fall by 53 % on average, based on real customer calculations. The box travels full in both directions, so there is no empty return shipment.

  • Protection

Impressions and ear moulds are one-off items. Our dimensionally stable boxes protect better than cardboard - tested with up to 400 kg stacking pressure and in a drop test from 80 cm.

  • Hygiene

The surfaces are made of plastic, do not pick up dirt and are very easy to wipe clean inside and out.

  • Regulation

The PPWR has applied since 12 August 2026. From 2030 it sets reuse targets for certain transport packaging such as plastic crates and pallets; boxes made of cardboard or paperboard are exempt. Whether your shipping is affected depends on format and supply relationship - we are happy to check this with you.

Matching packaging

Elacin: custom hearing protection in a closed loop

Elacin makes custom hearing protection: the ear impressions are taken locally, production is central - and the shipments travel back and forth in a reusable loop with hey circle. The same pattern as for ear moulds for hearing aids: custom work out, custom work back, the packaging stays in circulation.

Frequently asked questions

How do I ship ear impressions and earmoulds safely?

In dimensionally stable reusable packaging with padding: the ear impression travels to the lab protected, and the finished earmould comes back in the same packaging - drop tested from 80 cm.

Is reusable shipping worth it for small businesses?

What matters is shipping frequency, not company size: if you work with the same partners regularly, you benefit from the first loop onwards.

Can customers keep the packaging?

All hey circle shipping packaging has to be returned. The more cycles a reusable packaging completes, the more single-use packaging it replaces. Online retailers can decide whether to ship all their orders in reusable packaging or to let customers choose between single-use and reusable packaging at check-out.

Customers have to return the packaging within a set period, otherwise it will be invoiced.
